The Microfinance Program for Economic Empowerment is a nonprofit initiative that provides interest-free financial assistance to underprivileged individuals, enabling them to start small businesses and achieve financial independence. By offering funding without interest or hidden fees, the program helps beneficiaries establish sustainable income sources, reducing poverty and fostering self-reliance.
Beneficiaries receive funds to launch ventures such as taxi services, small retail stores, repair shops, and tailoring businesses. They repay the assistance in manageable installments using their business profits, and the repaid funds are reinvested to support new beneficiaries, creating a continuous cycle of economic upliftment.
Beyond financial aid, the program offers business mentorship, market research support, and financial management training, equipping participants with essential skills to succeed. The eligibility process prioritizes low-income individuals with the motivation and capability to run a business, ensuring responsible allocation of funds.
By empowering individuals to earn a livelihood, the program strengthens local economies and reduces dependency on external aid. It promotes a culture of entrepreneurship, accountability, and sustainable growth, helping communities build a brighter, self-sufficient future.
Pay-in-Kind (PIK) Program: Empowering Small Business Startups
Many hardworking and dignified individuals, including widows and struggling families, have the skills and determination to build a better future but lack the resources to start their own businesses. At Society to Empower People (STEP), we bridge this gap through our Pay-in-Kind (PIK) program, providing essential tools, equipment, and materials needed to launch small business startups.
Rather than offering cash, we directly supply the necessary resources based on each person's skills and business aspirations. Through a formal agreement, recipients receive support under specific terms, conditions, and a structured repayment plan with manageable monthly installments, ensuring long-term success and sustainability.
With the right support, we empower individuals to achieve financial independence and transform their lives.
As part of its commitment to empowering individuals through economic opportunities, STEP Organization has provided AFN 100,000 under its Microfinance Program to support Mr. Timur Shah in establishing a mobile repair shop. This initiative enables him to build a sustainable livelihood while contributing to the local economy.
Under the terms of the Microfinance Program, Mr. Shah will repay AFN 5,000 per month until the total amount is repaid. Once recovered, the funds will be reinvested into new microfinance projects, ensuring a continuous cycle of economic empowerment and financial independence for other aspiring entrepreneurs.
This initiative reflects STEP Organization’s commitment to sustainable economic growth, self-reliance, and poverty alleviation through financial inclusion.
Under its Microfinance Program, STEP Organization has provided financial support to Zabihullah to establish a general store, enabling him to achieve financial stability and provide for his family. Identified as a hardworking and determined individual, Zabihullah was the sole breadwinner of his household but lacked the financial resources to start a sustainable business.
This initiative aims to empower him by offering an opportunity for self-sufficiency, helping him break free from financial hardship. The funds provided under this program will be repaid through structured installments, allowing the amount to be reinvested into future microfinance projects, benefiting more individuals in need.
