An estimated 3.7 million children are out-of-school in Afghanistan – 60% of them are girls. (UNICEF). Thousands of school age young children work on the streets, in factories, in mechanic shops and other extremely unsafe and unsuitable places to provide for their families instead of going to schools. With your support we (STEP) step in and through signed agreements with parents or guardians help such children to go to school. We pay their families a monthly reasonable stipend to help keep their kids in school and away from harsh working conditions. Many students have successfully been transitioned from humiliating workplaces to dignified classrooms.
STEP has been sponsoring one for the most essential female education projects in Jalalabad.
In this context, full sponsorship of 45 female students at Al-Falah educational Institute has been successfully underway for about two years now. These students study until 14th grade and their curriculum includes subjects of standard education. The annual expenses for one student is $200 which includes, monthly fee, transportation, uniform, school supplies, books and stationery.
There are millions of orphans in Afghanistan who are in need of support. STEP, through your donations provides financial and educational support to these orphans. A large number of orphans work on the street to earn a living. STEP makes sure they are not only assisted financially but are also empowered by our educational and skills development programs.
There are many people in-need of skill development to earn certificates in specific fields in order to work and support themselves and their families. STEP helps such individuals in their pursuit of learning and developing skills.
